About the Series: Draw Your American Heritage

All of us have a national heritage: the traditions, customs and values we have internalized because of the country in which we were born. Every citizen can be proud of their nation’s history and accomplishments. This doesn’t mean a country can do no wrong, but even in failures there are lessons to be learned.

The “Draw Your American Heritage” series focuses on American ideals as represented through monuments, architecture, symbols and art to encourage students to cherish the great American values of freedom, individualism, patriotism and liberty, in short, the American Spirit.

Every generation is responsible for passing on this shared heritage and of securing freedom and liberty for their children, grand children and future generations.

In this series, through historical information and a step-by-step drawing, students will learn about the traditions that made and continue to make America and Americans great and encourage them to treasure the freedoms they have and fight for those that have been lost. We want American students to be proud of their heritage because the American Spirit, still vibrant and strong, is worth celebrating.
